Do the Roma (Gypsy) people have a "homeland" like the Jews or Armenians or other ethnic groups?

A. Thank you or using the proper term! *blows kiss* No, they are not trying to get anywhere geographically. Genetically, we're from the Indian subcontinent, but there is no 'promised land,' or anything like that. By and large the culture is simply nomadic. It isn't so much that they like the lifestyle, so much as settling down in one place makes it harder to keep marime law about not marrying out, and what is and is not allowed in the home, and such. settling also goes against the nature. Most often compare it to water. If Rom stay in one place, they believe the spirit and the energy goes stagnant and causes disease and problems. Also, because the culture and laws are so different it fosters persecution. There are Roma who settle down, but… [cont.]
