What kind of lifestyle is associated with these careers?
Q. I am in college right now majoring in Biology with hopes to become a Veterinarian. However, I also have a future lifestyle in mind. I hope to have pretty set work hours everyday and I want to have time to do my own thing, preferably on the weekends. I also would like to live in a city, perhaps New York. Is that lifestyle feasible for a vet? What about a psychologist? How demanding are these jobs? Thanks!
Asked by D - Sun Dec 21 16:33:29 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Veterinarians typically have Saturday hours. You might not have to work every Saturday, but you will have to work Saturdays. This is especially true when you're first starting out. However, you will normally get another day off during the week in compensation. Depending on the way your clinic works, you might have some Sunday hours as well. Also, the hours that a clinic is open is normally long. The clinic I worked at was open 7-6 and all the vets were there the whole time. Other clinics are open longer hours. You can always start your own practice though and make everyone else work the weekends, but my experience is that the practice owner actually works a lot of weekends. Expect to work about a 45-50 hour week, especially when… [cont.]

What kind of lifestyle can you live off a medical assistant career?
Q. I am a freshman in high school nd medical assisting seems like something i would love to do. I've been hearing so much about it tho. :( I want to live a decent happy life with a little extra spending money on the side for whatever. Not living paycheck to paycheck. What kind of lifestyle does a medical assistant have? How much money do they make an hour? Year? Any extra info is greatly appreciated :)

A. The medical assistants I went to school with made $10 an hour in start in a family practice. You cannot live a comfortable life on $10 an hour. Why don't you go for a full blown nursing career? Now that is comfort! Hard work but great money!

A. Drink plenty of mineral water as your main daily intake of liquid. I like Volvic, if you haven't taken the challenge you should try, it really is full of volcanicity! A cheaper option would be to buy a Brita water filter. Give up sugar loaded carbonated soft drinks. No more Dr Pepper, no more Pepsi. Just one can of Coke contains 31% of your recommended daily amount of sugar! If this is not possible, limit yourself to one can a day. Walk when you can. Walk to the shops, walk to your weekly appointment, walk to the school, even walk to work if you want. If it's within reasonable walking distance walk. You'll save money on petrol too. Eat sandwiches without margarine or butter whichever you use. I don't find either of these improve the… [cont.]

A. While I truly hope that others will post their answers here, I see that no one has answered your question yet (after two hours). I, therefore, hope the following is helpful. I'm a veteran homeschooling mom and organic foods proponent, and I don't think we've ever had an all-inclusive term applied to us. Some descriptive words that *have* been used include the following: Alternative or Alternate/Alternative Lifestyle Conscious or Raised-Consciousness Wholistic (as to encompass "the Whole!") Holistic Natural Organic (as it applies to food *and* to natural learning instincts and drives) Crunchy-Granola-Type(s) Homespun Life-Long Learner(s) Back-to-Basics Eco-Moms, Eco-Dads, Eco-Homeschoolers, Eco-Parents, and Eco-Parenting Waldorf… [cont.]

What do the advocates of a primitive lifestyle want for the Humans?
Q. Do the people who advocate a primitive lifestyle for civilization, particularly the anarcho-primitivists, believe that Humans should not have permanent settlements, that they should find all their food without growing a bit of any of it, that they should hand complete control of their lives to nature, and that the arts should be downplayed? What are their answers to medical issues?

A. They want people to die naturally. The reason that people want a primitive lifestyle is because of their dislike of the way modern society runs. They believe that humans should live as nature intended. Hindu's call this present time the Kaliyug. Hindus believe that human civilization degenerates spiritually during the Kali Yuga, which is referred to as the Dark Age because in it people are as far removed as possible from God. In this timeAvarice and wrath will be common. Humans will openly display animosity towards each other. Ignorance of dharma will occur. People will have thoughts of murder for no justification and they will see nothing wrong with that mind-set. Lust will be viewed as being socially acceptable, and sexual intercourse… [cont.]

What advice would u give teenagers about their lifestyle choices?
Q. What advice would you give to teenagers about their lifestyle choices, especially in the light of the many influencing "voices" around them?
Asked by stella25 - Sat Feb 9 12:03:55 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Every choice you make has a consequence. During the teen years, identity is important. Often you define yourself by your activities and associations, your abilities and your desires. Relationships with the opposite sex become more plausible, but potentially detrimental too. A romance can get you to do, feel and think things you wouldn't have if you decided to wait. Most of the "voices" heard in this world encourage teen romance, living for the moment, pleasure over principle and fast living. These things may be appealing and make good movies and video games, but are seeds that don't reap rewards for the future. Plan your life wisely, listen to the wisdom around you. Close your eyes and believe in goodness and truth and the… [cont.]

A. I used to wake up with back aches and neck pains. I got sick pretty often...at least I caught every cold that went around. I always felt like maybe I needed to shed a few pounds, so I was never entirely confident and happy with my body. I made myself quit smoking, start working out regularly, lose 15 pounds, drink more water, and eat healthier. I didn't do it all at once. I think I woke up one day and realized how unhappy I was with my lifestyle. You never know what day is going to be your last. So everyday should be spent being happy. Yet, everyday I was spending feeling guilty for how I ate, or for how many cigarettes I smoked. That was my motivation then. My motivation now is feeling the difference in my life. How can I join the military without living the military lifestyle?
Q. Ok, I know I'll have to go through training and whatnot, and I may have to be deployed. But overall what job or branch most retains the civilian lifestyle? I heard officers get more freedom and live in houses instead of barracks. Also Special Forces guys supposedly get to grow their hair long. Which one of these would be best for me?

A. You're kidding, right? This is a joke, right? Why would you even consider joining the military if you don't want to live the military lifestyle? Or are you just looking for a free ride, a job where you don't have to work but still get paid for it? Do the military and yourself a favor - don't join. If you want to join something, then join the Peace Corps, but not the military.
